Hello everyone! Happy Books and Wine Wednesday. I hope you are all enjoying the month of September so far and are getting a lot of enjoyable reading in. This week's wine / book pairing is brought to you by Author Jillian James's Song of Smoke and Ironstone's Obsession Symphony. If you love fantasy romance with dragon shifters and court intrigue as well as whimsical white wine blends, then this is the pair for you! Don't forget to have your glass of Obsession at the ready when you sit down to read this lovely book for the perfect fantasy romance experience. Be sure to look for links to both down below. Have a wonderful rest of your week and, as always, happy reading!
In a world where humans have been forced to live below-ground for centuries as a war with Dragons rages on, 20 year-old Seda is forced to make a choice that will uncover old lies and open up new worlds.
Captured and taken into her enemy's home, she finds herself falling deeper and deeper under the spell of an enigmatic and charming Dragon warrior. Dederic challenges her, tempts her and leaves her longing for what is possible.
As her feelings shift from icy contempt to blazing desire, Seda must find a way to heal the broken divide between their two worlds and save what matters most before it's too late.
Author's Note: This is a medium-burn romance intended for readers 18+. This story contains strong language, sex, and violence.
Available on Amazon
From my review:
I loved the whole world that the author built. Her colorful descriptions and the characters that she created really pulled me into to the futuristic setting where humans and dragon kind are at war with each other and treachery lurks around every corner.
Song of Smoke begins with Seda, the human daughter of the high king of Illburn, being sold into marriage to a cruel warlord. Seda’s compassion and empathy are constantly landing her on the wrong side of her cold, heartless father and the rest of the male dominated court. Woman have no higher ranking than cattle and are treated abominably in the underground kingdom where humans have been forced to dwell since the beginning of the war with the dragons. When Seda’s soft heart leads her to aid in a dragon’s escape from the dungeon at Illburn, she becomes entangled in the world of dragons and quickly learns that all the horrid tales she had heard about the shifters were lies.
In the home of a dragon pride she sees a better way of life and her magical gift flourishes under the tutelage of the very handsome shifter, Dederic. If I ever run across a dragon shifter man, I hope he looks just like Dederic because *swoon* - he’s so sexy!
There were a few typos and grammar errors but nothing that detracted from the story. All in all, this was a great read that kept me engaged from start to finish.
Happy Wine and Book Wednesday everyone! This week's pairing is brought to you by Author Tori Alvarez's Naive in Love and Benziger Family Winery's Chardonnay. Naive in love is a New Adult, college romance perfect for all the back to school feels going on this time of year. I don't have any going off to college yet, but I know that I am definitely having some of those yearnings. As in, how soon do the kids start back to school again? Mama needs a quiet moment here. Lol. Here's hoping you all find a quiet moment to read Naive in Love with a glass of Benziger. Happy reading, book and wine lovers!
How do you know what love is if you have never experienced it? Love or infatuation? How's one to tell?
Sophia is having trouble navigating these new experiences during her first year in college. Each time someone tells her to follow her heart, she is even more confused and frustrated. Away from home and her friends, she needs to figure out who she is.
From my review:
Naive in Love
by Tori Alvarez
Great debut novel! Many life changes and first experiences were depicted very well in this book and the characters were relatable. It took me a little while to get into, but once the MC settled into her new life as a college freshman the story took off. There were a few times where I wished I could have put a bug in Sophia’s ear about a certain bad news boyfriend. But then, YAY! Ethan stepped in and saved the day! Nice coming of age story. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys NA romances that revolve around college life.
Happy Wine Wednesday everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful week and managing to keep cool in the summer heat. I have a couple of things that can definitely help you out with that in the form of this week's wine / book pairing. Ellie Malouff's Between the Waves and Kono Marlborough Savignon Blanc are a great duo to keep to keep you company in the shade or while lounging poolside. Be sure to give them both a try, you'll be glad you did!
"Compulsively readable, sexy, and fun!"
I moved to a small town on the island of Maui, ready to live out my days on my own and far away from the monster I left back in Chicago.
It was the perfect reset until I needed something more. Someone more.
When I met Jake, the hottest guy in board shorts this side of the island, I started living again. He's teaching me how to surf, making my toes curl from pleasure, and is the one person I want to let into my world, with one condition...
He can never know my real name.
No one can.
Because if I'm found, I'll have to give up the life I'm building with Jake.
Where did this girl come from?
My life was on a straight trajectory—waking up at dawn, getting my brother off to school, heading to the shop, and watching surfers come and go—until a beautiful woman named Audrey Logan moved to town. She's guarded and mysterious, but I'm drawn to her in a way I can't resist.
I'm determined to break down her walls one surfing lesson at a time, in hopes that she'll stay in Maui and let me love her, come what may.
What to expect from this standalone novella: hot surfer dudes, bonfire parties, kissing under the stars, romps on the beach, lovey-dovey stuff, mysterious backstories, "I will protect you!" hero vibes, suspense, kick ass women, and of course a happily ever after.
*** From my review:
Perfect Summer book! I really enjoyed this quick, summer read. Set in beautiful Hawaii, it had all the best beach elements—sun, sand and a hot surfer guy to fall in love with. It’s very well written, has fantastic characters, no slow spots. I finished it in a day because I couldn’t put it down. I loved all the surfer quotes the author put in as well. Well done, Ms. Malouff!
Would recommend to anyone looking for a great little romance to throw in their beach or pool bag.

Wine Wednesday is back! Yayy -- my Romance, Reads & Wine posts have been MIA for a couple of weeks due to May being a whirlwind of activity kind of month. Now that summer has decided that it's definitely on its way (fingers crossed here in Colorado --my kids' end of year school picnic saw us sledding and snowball fighting, no joke), I'm hoping for some lazy days. The kind that involve wine and a favorite romantic read.
This week's wine / book pair is brought to you by Melanie A. Smith's All of Me and Katy Michaud's Cab Sav. All of Me is book 2 in Smith's Safeguarded Heart series and is a page turning read. So prepare yourself by pouring a glass of Michaud Cab Sav and then settle in.
Happy start to the summer months everyone and happy reading!
Fresh off a series of life-changing events, real estate mogul Serafina Evans has decided to pursue the man she loves – the stubborn, intelligent, charming, and devastatingly handsome Alessandro Giordano. And while Alessandro is finally free of the ties that bound him, that revelation was followed by his insistence that he must return to his home country of Italy. So, Sera must track him down and find out why he left … and if there’s any hope left for their love.
But as much as her life has changed lately, nothing can prepare Sera for the challenges and lessons in love, loss, and tragedy that are yet to come. This will include her biggest lesson yet: how to persevere through it all and mend a repeatedly shattered heart to do the impossible – give all of herself to someone. But is it something she’s ready for?
Note: This is a full length novel and the second book in a steamy contemporary romantic suspense series that is intended to be read in order. This book includes mature content, and as such is not recommended for readers under 18 years of age, or those who might be offended by such material.

Happy Book Teaser Tuesday everyone! Here is very romantic little bit from my favorite would-be villain couple. Azarus and Odile, the Sorcerer and the Swan. Oh, the things that man says to her.... swoon worthy!
“firelight becomes you.”
Odile felt a flush from more than the heat come over her.
“It is the same with you, my lord. Though, like you, I prefer the shadows.”
His hands traced the curve of her cheek. Then he leaned in and kissed her mouth. Odile opened to him readily. The smell of the Elder branches combined with his male scent, tempting her to breathe him in. Her hands roved over his chest, wrapping behind his neck to bring him closer. Their bodies met, Azarus pulling them together tightly while he plundered her lips. He searched out all of her secrets with his tongue. There was no hiding in the dark from this man, he knew it too well. He was the master of it.
Finally, they pulled apart for breath.
“Aye, right you are, dark maiden. We both are of the shadows—night creatures together. Our fire lies inside, don’t fear it. We can burn in secret, the way you like, for only each other.”
She smiled, wishing once again that these rites they acted were for more than just show. Every black thing she’d been taught to hate about herself, Azarus brought to the light. At first she thought he exposed her but now she knew the truth. Each moment with him healed her, forced who she really was to the fore. Like the primitive sounds of the villagers’ music, he wove the frayed strands of her soul together in a song so wildly beautiful it could never be heard by anyone’s ears but his own. She’d burn for him forever.
Enter the dark, seductive world of the black swan today.
Available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Ibooks and Kobo
Happy May 1st and, more importantly, happy Wine Wednesday everyone!
This week's pairing is brought to you by my current read - New york Time's Bestselling Author, Gena Showalter's book, Wicked Nights, and Raeburn Chardonnay. Showalter is one of my go-to paranormal romance authors and I just picked this little gem up about a day ago, but oh my... so good! The rest of the books in the series look amazing too and the covers... *sigh*. Let's just say, I think I'm going to be crushing on angels for a while. Go grab yourself a copy of this sexy angels romance and read along with me. Pour yourself a glass of Raeburn chardonnay and we'll be all set.
Wishing you a fabulous wine / book night tonight and, as always, happy reading!

Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation—or her ultimate damnation?
It's been a while since I put out a book teaser but I want to post some more scenes from the Tides series before book three comes out later this year.
Here, in Crystal Tide, Kay discovers an upsetting entry in one of her dad's old notebooks. It seems the stalwart scientist, Dr. Laurens, may have believed in paranormal beings.
This comes as a complete surprise to Kay but serves to send her down to the Bermuda Triangle where she runs afoul of an ancient cult, meets a sinfully hot stranger and learns that trouble is brewing in the mystic Tides of Poseidon.
Cracking open the notebook, she leafed through a few pages trying to find something that made sense. At the back, her dad had written a passage letter style, which was unlike the normal notes and sketches he usually filled his books with. It was like a diary entry.
“They are among us…” It started out.
“…creatures, beings from other dimensions, not only outer space as I had once imagined. Some of them can not even be classified as alien because they have walked the earth far longer than humans.
I have made encounters while out in the field, unexplainable happenings, disturbing sightings and sometimes just hair raising feelings of an unknown presence. Supernatural, paranormal, extra-terrestrial ─ are these the correct terms to define what I have seen? All I can say for certain is that these beings are powerful. They have been around for a very long time, probably since the beginning. Once, they lived in concert with mankind but something happened long ago and they now have an acute contempt for modern humans.
Through my research, I found that many of earth’s geological and atmospheric disturbances may find their root not in seismic, climatic, or weather related occurrences but, actually, are being set into motion by these supernatural beings. For what reason I cannot conjecture, but judging by the increasing frequency and intensity, it can be assumed that their intent is not of a benign nature.
I’ve made plans to study the geological link. Many of the paranormal hotspots are located at earth’s vortexes. What was once a guilty fascination, a diversion from my actual work, has become a matter of dire importance as all evidence points to a rising insurrection coming from these powerful beings. Their presence has steadily increased over the past two or three decades, as I have noted on my charts. All my research suggests that there is a sea floor link to nearly every troubling account of man meeting with these destructive otherworld forces.
I fear for my wife and daughter. I have to gather more information but am assailed by the feeling that time may be running short before something truly harrowing occurs that will affect the entire world.
I leave for Miami tomorrow for a close study of the Bermuda Triangle ─ one of the world’s most hostile vortices…”
And there the entry ended though it was obvious that her dad had written more. Kay flipped the page but it was the last one in the notebook. Paper had been ripped out. He never did that, his notes could be chaotic and disjointed but he never mangled his pages. She had to know what else he’d written! She searched the bookshelf but that notebook was the highest numbered in its group. That meant that if Esmé had a journal in Miami, it was probably the next one.
Just as all her thoughts came crashing together, bright lights blazed into the windows then a car door slammed shut. Someone was coming.
