Aww, I love this chubby little guy. The back label explains that when a famous French wine maker tasted this chard for the first time he exclaimed, "Now zat is what you call eh phet bas-tard!" regarding the roundness of the wine. Whatever, I just think he's adorable and the wine's pretty good too! Happy Wine Wednesday everybody and happy reading! (Hopefully you have something cute and humorous on your bookshelf to ward off the mid-winter chill.)
A while back I thought about adding some poems in at the beginning of some of the sections of Moontide. I even have them in one of the first versions of the text (pre - edit, edit and re-edit). I eventually took them out but I thought I would try to post some of them here and on my social media sights because, well, I just love image quotes. Stay tuned for more as we get closer to Moontide release day!

Hadn’t there been a solid rock wall there? Where had they come from? She blinked her eyes thinking they might be the manifestations of her tipsy state and too much flouncing around. But, when she looked again, they were still there. Was there something unsavory in that jello shot? Her mind flashed on every CSI episode she’d ever seen involving date rape drug scenarios, but that was crazy. Captain Big Head wouldn’t play her like that.
Her eyes continued to wander over the crowd and she saw that there were about five or six newcomers that had appeared out of thin air. They stood out because they were the most lethal looking group of men she’d ever seen and they didn’t appear to have come for the corny Caribbean theme or the dancing.
They had the look of barbarians from a long lost era and wore weird clothes that made her think of old-time swashbucklers. Sorry Big Head, she thought, you’ve got nothing on these guys. They’re the real deal.
When they started to move through the crowd, it was with a force that made her want to run and hide under the nearest table. No one else seemed to pay them any mind though. Maybe they were just actors off of one of the pirate schooners that gave theme cruises in the bay, Cindy thought. But the fierce intensity that was radiating off of them was anything but lighthearted.
Then her eyes caught on him. Tall, broad shouldered, dark hair swept back from chiseled features and tanned skin. His clear blue eyes scanned the room in an assessing gaze like a deadly assassin honing in on his mark. That shouldn’t be at all hot ─ damn romance novels ─ she needed to get a grip on reality! She blinked as a wave of lightheadedness came over her. Then the man started to move and something flipped way down deep in her stomach. He walked through the crowd with purpose. This guy was no goofy cruise ship performer and he was headed straight for her!

Upon A Moonswept Tide…
Trapped in time…Ronan Garring is a man of action; a ship captain who has sailed the seas from Europe to the Caribbean…in the seventeenth century. When he is tricked by a sea nymph, he is sent to a deserted island in Poseidon’s realm to serve the gods for all time. On a mission to modern day Miami, he finds his earth home crawling with underworld evil and is waylaid by an enchanting human woman who seems to stall his attempts at completing his quest at every turn. He can’t be sure if she is an entirely innocent wrecking ball or the agent of a more sinister force. Against all his good intentions, he finds himself continually, albeit pleasantly, entangled with her both in this world and beyond.
Searching…for a friend whose gone missing, Cindy Pierce left the Rocky Mountains for the beaches of Miami to try to make sense of, what looks to be, a hopeless case. As the trail grows cold, she stumbles into an intriguing dark stranger and is literally knocked flat. Fierce and intense as he is, towering over her and exuding old world masculinity, she can’t help her body’s immediate response to him. When she finds herself being chased across the southern tip of Miami and into the Florida Keys by the handsome foreigner however, she’s convinced he’s not only psychotic but intent on doing her harm. Once she finds herself in his arms again though, her attraction to him can’t be denied and neither can the fact that he may be the only one who can save her from the dark forces at work on the beach.
Join the race to find the kings in Amanda V. Shane’s new Tides of Atlantis series and help them to discover their soul mates, the women who will win their lost hearts and help them fulfill their destiny!
“No! You tell me who you are and what the hell is going on here!”
The play of emotions on her face changed from fearful to demanding with a spark of fire. Good. Angry from this woman he could handle, but her fear would be his undoing. Her eyebrows came together in the most adorable scowl. Before he could think better of it, he gave her a brief nod ─ a gentleman’s acceptance of the gloves off fight she looked ready to engage in.
This set her off again for some reason and she stamped her foot.
“Look,” she yelled, “I’m really not used to being hunted down by strange men, and just because you’ve been decent company for the day doesn’t mean I can ignore the overall weirdness of this whole situation. If you’re some crazy escaped from the loony bin or psycho killer or…or alien body snatcher looking for a host…”
She kept speaking, teetering at the edge of hysterics and she couldn’t be hysterical for what he had to say. He had to do something quick, before her bellowing drew a crowd, but what? He tried to think. What did the men of this time do when a woman went apoplectic? Did women still faint anymore? Dear gods!
He’d lost her words but was conscious of her cadence picking up speed.
“… are you even listening to me?”
He focused back on her and her wild blonde curls and frantic blue eyes decided the matter. He stepped into her with determination even as she started off at a rattle again.
“Something happened back there in that lighthouse and I want an explana…”
He pulled her to him and brought his mouth down on hers, silencing her. She yelped against his lips but he swallowed the sound and took full advantage, plunging into her mouth with his tongue. Her body tightened, at first, but then she started to yield and he gentled his hold on her shoulders, pulling her into him and holding her as she softened.
I had a hard time waiting to post this sexy bottle layout for today. Osso Anna Chardonnay - Red satin, black lace, masquerade mask = perfect Valentine's Day bottle. And the backdrop is actually one of my own costumes from my ballet days. Now that it's out of its storage wrapping, who knows, maybe it will inspire another ballet fairy tale romance :)
Have a Happy Valentine's Day / Wine Wednesday everyone!

Here's a bottle that must be full of stories to tell. 19 Crimes refers to the nineteen crimes that, if convicted of, could get a British convict sentenced to live in Australia rather than death back in the day. I'm intrigued by all the tales that could be told by the wine that calls itself a "Hard Chard." Even the cork is thought provoking as it lists crime #9 - assault with intent to rob which I hope you can see in the pick. Whatever you're drinking this evening, I wish you all a very happy, story filled Wine Wednesday!
